What is Assertiveness

How many times have you been tempted by someone’s behavior in certain situations, but for some reason, didn’t want to express your disagreement?

High expectations, inadequate communication style, and unsatisfied needs are just some of the challenges people face daily, in their business environment. Non-assertive behavior is often the cause of conflicts between employees and can badly reflect on the company, as well as on planned results.

Non-assertive behavior can be recognized in any situation where a person aggressively reacts thinking his/her interests are endangered, or on the other hand situations where others’ requests or wishes are pleased but own needs are neglected.

PCM - Konflikti - Asertivnost

By definition, assertiveness is the expression of thoughts, feelings, and beliefs in a direct, honest and socially appropriate way, while respecting others.

An assertive person in life is led by the statemen “I am OK. You’re OK. “

That means that the person will respect the attitudes, opinions, and needs of others, even when she/he disagrees with them. An assertive person does not want to show his/her dominance and he/she strives to establish quality relationships with the interlocutors, despite mutual differences.

How to Apply the assertiveness to your company?

Understanding your own and respecting others’ needs is the key to business success. It is not enough that we know what we want to achieve on the career plan, but also to adequately communicate our goals to associates, colleagues, and managers.

Also, it is important to be open to hear wishes and recognize the needs of others and, if possible, to support our colleagues on their development path.

.If these principles are respected, success will not be missed
